A large Banksy show is coming to one of Union Square's empty storefronts. Banksy Limitless opens Dec. 4 at 150 Powell St., the former H&M, SFist reported. SFist said the show appears to be neither authorized nor endorsed by the famously anonymous artist.

What's in it

SFist reported that the exhibit includes about 250 works, some of them reproductions, some photographs and some privately owned pieces. It also includes murals that were cut from the walls they were painted on and later sold. The show adds projections and a timeline of Banksy's career. The official event page calls it the world's largest private collection of the artist's work, featuring "certified originals" and murals restored by professionals.

Banksy and SF

SFist noted that an earlier unauthorized Banksy show came to the Palace of Fine Arts in 2021. Banksy himself last painted in San Francisco in 2010, leaving at least seven murals around the city. Banksy has criticized people for removing his street art and selling it for profit.
