The 6-0 49ers will play Sunday's game against the Falcons in Atlanta without receiver Mike Evans (Achilles tendinitis), defensive end Nick Bosa (calf) and receiver Deebo Samuel (hamstring).
Why it matters: Kyle Shanahan said the team will probably have fewer than the maximum 48 players available on game day, even after practice-squad call-ups. "I don't think ever in my career [has that happened]," he told ESPN.
Who's out
- Receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel, and defensive end Nick Bosa.
- Linebackers Luke Gifford (groin) and Garret Wallow (hamstring), and safety Marques Sigle (ankle).
- Evans and Bosa will not travel to Atlanta. They are staying home for rest and physical therapy, NBC Sports Bay Area reported.
- Questionable: cornerback Upton Stout and safety Siran Neal.
Kirk is back
Veteran receiver Christian Kirk has been on injured reserve since he hurt his calf in training camp, and he is set to play. The 49ers released defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo to make room for him. Kirk is officially listed as questionable, but Shanahan said that is a formality.
The 49ers are also missing receivers Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson. Jordan Watkins will lead the receiver group.
Bosa's streak
This will be the fifth straight game Bosa has missed since he strained his calf on Sept. 24. Evans will miss his first game of the season. He has 27 catches for 420 yards and three touchdowns.
What's next
After their Week 8 bye, the 49ers host the Raiders at Levi's Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 8.
