The Golden State Warriors are exploring trades for center Kristaps Porzingis, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Oct. 21. Porzingis is "seriously contemplating his future" as he deals with POTS.
Why it matters: The Warriors are already thin after their 127-105 opening loss to the Lakers. Reports say Porzingis could retire if his health doesn't improve.
Contract details
He is guaranteed $20 million for 2026-27.
His 2027-28 player option is guaranteed for only $3 million.
The Warriors are over the first apron, so they can't take back more salary than they send out in a trade.
Background
Golden State acquired Porzingis in February in the trade that sent Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to Atlanta. He averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 15 games for the Warriors. The team said it won't comment and doesn't expect him to be around the team. "Health is wealth," Porzingis said.
