The Inner Sunset is getting a pizzeria from one of the best-known names in Neapolitan pizza. Vincenzo Capuano, who won the world championship of contemporary pizza at the Caputo Trophy in 2022 and has 24 restaurants from Europe to Asia, is opening his first U.S. location at 822 Irving St., Mission Local reported.

The restaurant, Vincenzo Capuano SF, is a partnership with Italian chef Osilio Florese, owner of Mona Lisa Ristorante and Steps of Rome in North Beach. City filings for the business at the address were first spotted by Transparent.city. No opening date has been announced.

Goodbye, Inle

The space was most recently Inle Burmese Cuisine, the Inner Sunset's only Burmese restaurant, which closed on Sunday, Oct. 18. Co-owner Morgan Sue said the restaurant is on break while the owners deal with health issues and may return in a different form. Inle opened at 1298 Church St. in Noe Valley in 2019 and moved to Irving near Ninth Avenue in 2023. "I tried to avoid the restaurant business, but the blood is here," Sue said.

A pizza block

822 Irving was once home to Patxi's. The neighborhood already has Arizmendi, Pasquale's and Cybelle's Front Room, and Oakland's Mama's Boy is bringing New York-style slices to the Inner Sunset, Mission Local noted.
