The Tenderloin kicks off Dia de Muertos week with a free street party on Sunday, Nov. 1, from 2 to 8 p.m. SFGuide places the fair at 150 Golden Gate Ave., and says it is organized by Into The Streets and presented by the Tenderloin Community Benefit District.

Two stages

The listing on SF Station gives the main stage lineup: Soucano at 2 p.m. with Latin rock and soul, salsa from Agua Pura at 3:30, Peruvian cumbia and chicha from Combo Tezeta at 5:30, and Banda La Toxica closing at 7. A lucha libre stage hosts bouts at 2:15 and 3:45 p.m., with music from Sonido Killer in between. Rica Montes, Mariachi Tradicion Mexicana and Trio Sol de Mexico are also on the bill.

For families

Organizers promise ofrendas, food vendors, a kids zone, face painting, arts and crafts, loteria and other hands-on activities, plus an outdoor bar for adults. It is free and open to all ages.

The next night, the 45th annual Mission procession steps off at Bryant and 22nd streets. See our Dia de los Muertos guide and the Tenderloin Museum guide for more in the neighborhood.
