The San Mateo County Community College District runs Cañada College, College of San Mateo and Skyline College. Two trustee areas are up this year, but only Area 2 is contested. In Area 4, Richard Holober is the only candidate on the county's certified roster.

The candidates

  • Mike Guingona (Incumbent). Bay Ballot quotes the San Mateo Daily Journal's endorsement: "Guingona is well versed in the district's finances, plans, challenges and opportunities."
  • Jason Holt (Software Engineer / Parent). In his Ballotpedia candidate survey, Holt describes himself as a visual effects pipeline technical director and local dad. His three campaign themes are classroom quality and faculty support, protecting free tuition while expanding career technical education, and "practical leadership" with shared governance.

Endorsements

Ballotpedia lists endorsements for Holt from the San Mateo County Democratic Party, the San Mateo County Central Labor Council, the county Building and Construction Trades Council, the San Mateo Community College Federation of Teachers (AFT Local 1493) and State Board of Equalization member Sally Lieber. Bay Ballot counts two local guides for Holt and one, the Daily Journal, for Guingona.
