San Francisco's second Raising Cane's opens Monday, Oct. 12, at Stonestown Galleria, just weeks after the chicken-finger chain opened its first city location at Fisherman's Wharf. The new restaurant takes over 255 Winston Drive, the corner space that was a McDonald's for 30 years until it closed in 2024, according to La Vie Zine, which cited a company news release.
Where and when
The mall directory lists the restaurant at 3251 20th Ave., Stonestown's main address, with the phone number (415) 564-8848. The storefront itself faces Winston Drive, near San Francisco State University. The chain's Fisherman's Wharf restaurant, its first in the city, opened in September, according to We Are San Francisco's timeline.
The Stonestown Cane's will keep later hours than most food options in the neighborhood: open until 2 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and until 3:30 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. We Are San Francisco reported the same hours and said the restaurant fills about 6,000 square feet that had been empty for roughly two years.
Opening-day freebies
The company planned a grand opening with giveaways for people who lined up early, including Cane's merchandise, plus free Cane's for a year for a handful of customers. A ribbon-cutting was set to feature cheerleaders from local high schools and colleges. The restaurant's interior includes artwork inspired by nearby schools, including SF State, La Vie Zine reported.
"The response to our Fisherman's Wharf opening showed us how much excitement there is for Cane's in the City, and we're proud to keep building on that momentum with a Restaurant that celebrates this Community and supports organizations making a meaningful local impact," Chris Zygler, Raising Cane's regional leader of restaurants, said in the release.
Part of a bigger Stonestown reshuffle
The opening is the latest in a run of new tenants at the Sunset-area mall. Last fall Stonestown added shoe store DSW and eyewear retailer Jins, and H&M returned. Korean skin care and makeup brand Moida plans to open at Stonestown in November, one of its first Northern California stores, with another coming to Daly City's Serramonte Center in December.
Where else Cane's is in the Bay Area
The Baton Rouge-based chain plans to open nearly 100 restaurants in 2026. Besides its two San Francisco spots, it already has Bay Area locations in Oakland, Hayward, Colma, Fairfield, Vacaville and Morgan Hill, plus two in San Jose, according to La Vie Zine. We Are San Francisco reported that the company has also confirmed plans for Rohnert Park and Napa.
