A developer has revised its plan for housing next to Highway 101 in Palo Alto's Palo Verde neighborhood, now proposing 269 homes at 3350 West Bayshore Road. Strada Investment Group's new application calls for a seven-story building with 244 apartments and 25 three-story townhouses, Palo Alto Online reports.
Why it matters: It is one of several projects that would bring housing to Palo Alto's east side, an area mostly known for office parks and labs.
What changed
Strada's preliminary plan in May called for an eight-story project with 286 units, Palo Alto Online and SF YIMBY reported at the time.
The new version is one story shorter and has 17 fewer homes.
The project
- The office buildings on the site, zoned for research, office and limited manufacturing, would be torn down.
- An underground garage would have 289 parking spaces.
- The townhomes would be sold as condos, each with four or five bedrooms and a two-car garage.
The bigger picture
The site sits just north of Fabian Way and San Antonio Road, where Palo Alto is drafting the San Antonio Road Area Plan for a new residential neighborhood across about 275 acres.
Strada won city approval earlier this year for 145 townhomes at 2100 Geng Road. A separate 62-townhome plan has been filed for 2225 East Bayshore Road, Palo Alto Online reported.
