Pacifica School District voters will see Measure T on the Nov. 3 ballot. The district says it is the renewal of its education parcel tax, Measure D, which expires June 30, 2027.

What it does

  • Levies $118 per parcel a year for 10 years.
  • Raises about $1,300,000 a year, according to the ballot question.
  • Includes senior exemptions and independent oversight, and bars spending on administrator salaries.
  • The ballot question says the money would support math, science, history, reading and writing programs, help attract and retain teachers and counselors, and maintain art, music, outdoor education, libraries and computer instruction.

What yes and no mean

A yes vote renews the tax; the ballot question describes it as renewing expiring local funding "without increasing taxes." A no vote lets the existing tax expire on June 30, 2027. The measure was placed on the ballot by the school board. As a special parcel tax placed by a school board, it needs two-thirds voter approval under California law.

Also on Pacifica ballots: 10 candidates for four Pacifica school board seats.
