The Outer Richmond is holding its Día de Muertos celebration again this year. The event runs Sunday, Nov. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. on Balboa Street between 35th and 36th avenues, Mission Local reports. It will feature altars, cultural performances and family activities.
Who is organizing it
Mission Local says the event is put on by Outer Balboa merchants, including Chino's, Simple Pleasures, Noise Records and Eye & Hand Society, along with the Richmond Neighborhood Center and Supervisor Connie Chan's office.
How it started
The Richmond Review reported that last year's event, held Nov. 2, 2025, was the Outer Richmond's first Día de Muertos celebration. It was organized with Wendy Aragon and the Balboa Village Merchant Association, and ofrendas were displayed at Chino's, Cielito Lindo, Eye & Hand Society and Balboa Produce.
More in the neighborhood this weekend
Mission Local also lists Clement Street merchants' trick-or-treating on Saturday and a Halloween "mystery movie marathon" at the Balboa Theatre, a quadruple feature for $13.
