OpenAI's AI models and Codex coding agent are coming to Google Cloud's Model Garden, the two companies announced Wednesday, Oct. 21. OpenAI models will also come soon to Google's Antigravity coding tool and Gemini Agent.

Why it matters: With Google on board, OpenAI's models are now on all three major U.S. cloud platforms, CNBC reported. Amazon began hosting them in April after Microsoft's exclusive license ended.

How it works

  • Google Cloud customers can buy OpenAI models in Model Garden through Google Cloud Marketplace.
  • Companies can count those purchases toward their existing Google Cloud spending commitments, OpenAI said.
  • General availability is planned in the coming weeks. Microsoft remains OpenAI's primary cloud partner.

What they said

"We are focused on giving customers a broad selection of models, including those from OpenAI, so they can choose the right model for any given job," Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said.

Google's cloud revenue growth sped up to about 82% in the second quarter, CNBC reported. Alphabet, Amazon and Microsoft all report results next week.
