Oakland's mayor's race has been quiet, but incumbents have still raised big sums, The Oaklandside reported.
Mayor
As of mid-October, Mayor Barbara Lee had raised $367,000 and spent more than $296,000, leaving $168,299, with more than $68,000 in campaign debt, according to The Oaklandside. Open Disclosure Oakland, a city campaign finance site updated Oct. 30, now lists Lee at $400,767 collected.
Her three challengers trail far behind. Open Disclosure lists Mindy Pechenuk at $28,807, Brenda Grisham at $13,431 and Julius Robinson at $10,895. The Oaklandside reported that Robinson's total includes a $6,500 loan from himself.
An independent committee backing Lee, Citizens for a Brighter Oakland, had received $22,000 by mid-October, nearly all from its creator, Scott's Seafood owner Raymond Gallagher.
City Council
- District 2: Incumbent Charlene Wang had raised $137,721 and had $85,489 in the bank. Challenger Nate Adams had raised $51,125 and had $19,361 left.
- District 4: Janani Ramachandran, running unopposed, had raised $79,587 and had $114,489 in cash.
- District 6: Incumbent Jenkins, the City Council president, had raised $84,376. Opponent Nancy Sidebotham had not reported any fundraising.
Ballot measures
No groups have formed to raise money against Measure EE, which would move Oakland toward a "strong mayor" system, or Measure FF, which would apply the city's real estate transfer tax to foreclosures, The Oaklandside reported.
How to vote
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls and vote centers close at 8 p.m., and mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and arrive within seven days. You can check your registration and ballot status at sos.ca.gov/elections. California lets you register and vote the same day at a vote center.
