What it means for buyers and sellers
Mountain View is one of the stronger markets in Santa Clara County right now. Redfin says many homes get multiple offers, some with waived contingencies, and the 22.9% jump in price per square foot is far bigger than the jump in the median, which suggests buyers are paying more for smaller homes and townhouses. Fewer homes sold than a year ago, so inventory is tight. Compare neighboring cities in our Santa Clara County prices by city report.
Redfin figures cover the three months through September 2026 and compare with the same period a year earlier. Zillow's Home Value Index is a typical-home estimate, not a sale price, so the two numbers measure different things and won't match exactly.
