Lutticken's, the deli, cafe and caterer at 3535 Alameda de las Pulgas in West Menlo Park, closed on Sept. 30 after 45 years, according to The Almanac and InMenlo.

A Peninsula institution

Lutticken's opened in 1981 and became a neighborhood gathering spot for sandwiches, breakfasts and catering. The Almanac reported that regulars shared memories in its final weeks.

Could it return?

The Almanac reported that Carlos Magana, a longtime employee, and an investor hope to take over the business and reopen it. No reopening date has been announced.
