Jay-Z played the first of two nights at Inglewood's SoFi Stadium on Friday, bringing out Blue Ivy Carter, John Legend, DJ Khaled and Scarface.
Why it matters: SoFi is also the site of the next Super Bowl, and Variety notes chatter that Jay-Z could be the halftime performer, making the show look like a possible test run.
The show
"I've been away too long," Jay-Z told the crowd, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which says the set ran about two hours, opening with "Hovi Baby" and moving through "Run This Town," "Hard Knock Life" and "99 Problems." Scarface joined as a special guest.
The tour
The stop is part of his yearlong "Jay-Z 30" celebration, which Variety says began at Philadelphia's Roots Picnic in May and included three sold-out nights at Yankee Stadium plus shows in London and Paris.
