The work
Caltrans says crews are doing final striping on State Route 84 between La Honda and Woodside on Oct. 28 through 30 as part of a micro-resurfacing project. They're replacing temporary pavement markings with permanent striping between Foxhill Road and Memory Lane. The Almanac reports the work runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with one-way traffic control. Caltrans says all work depends on the weather.
According to the Almanac, Woodside officials say the striping will be done in stages, with traffic control moving as each segment is finished.
Part of a safety push
The Almanac says the striping is one of Caltrans' near-term safety commitments for Highways 84 and 35. Others include a road safety audit, vegetation management, new traffic signs and turnout maintenance. Caltrans presented those plans at an Oct. 20 town hall at Mountain Terrace. The CHP has counted 11 fatal collisions on the two highways over the past five years, including the deaths of cyclists Jakub Solovsky in July and Eric Biron in August 2025.
