A pedestrian was killed Thursday night, Oct. 29, when he was hit by a pickup truck on San Pablo Dam Road in El Sobrante, the California Highway Patrol said.
What the CHP said
Officers were called at 8:02 p.m. to San Pablo Dam Road east of Hillcrest Road, KRON4 reported. Investigators said a red Chevrolet pickup, which Bay City News described as an S-10 compact truck, was heading west when it hit the man in the right lane.
He died at the scene. His name and age had not been released. The driver wasn’t hurt and stayed at the scene to cooperate with investigators, the CHP said.
The CHP had not said whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
San Pablo Dam Road is the main route through El Sobrante, linking Richmond and San Pablo with Orinda. Nearby is Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area.
