Antioch voters in City Council Districts 1 and 4 will choose councilmembers for four-year terms on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. Both races are rematches: incumbent Tamisha Torres-Walker faces former councilwoman Joy Motts for the third time in District 1, and incumbent Monica Wilson faces Sandra White for the third time, plus two first-time candidates, in District 4.
District 1: Tamisha Torres-Walker vs. Joyann "Joy" Motts
The city's final candidate list shows two qualified candidates: incumbent Tamisha Torres-Walker and Joyann Motts. Motts is a former Antioch councilwoman and school board trustee, the Antioch Herald reported. Torres-Walker defeated Motts in 2020, when Motts was running for re-election, and again in 2022, by four votes after a recount, according to the Herald. Diane Gibson-Gray pulled papers but did not file.
District 4: Monica Wilson vs. Sandra White, Andrew Becker and Metty Mathews Alappat
Four candidates qualified in District 4:
- Monica Wilson, the incumbent, first elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2016, 2020 (a two-year term after the switch to district elections) and 2022, per the Herald.
- Sandra White, former chair of the Antioch Police Crime Prevention Commission, running against Wilson for a third time after 2020 and 2022.
- Andrew Becker, a first-time candidate the Herald describes as a local homeless advocate and regular public speaker at council meetings.
- Metty Mathews Alappat, a first-time candidate who, according to the Herald, was a senior technical account manager at Amazon Web Services until July 2025.
City Clerk
Appointed City Clerk Michael Mandy is the only candidate for the partial two-year clerk term. He was appointed in September 2025, the Herald reported.
