Angela Davis speaks at Zellerbach Hall on the UC Berkeley campus on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m.

The talk

The lecture is called "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free: Movements for Liberation and Transfigurations of Freedom." It is built around the Nina Simone song, written by jazz pianist Billy Taylor, that became an anthem of the mid-century Black liberation movement. A conversation follows with Poulomi Saha, associate professor of English and chair of UC Berkeley's Program in Critical Theory.

The event is part of the Jefferson Memorial Lecture Series and marks the Program in Critical Theory's 20th anniversary. Cal Performances co-presents it with UC Berkeley Graduate Lectures.

Tickets

Cal Performances lists tickets from $28. The Graduate Lectures office says registration is co-managed through Cal Performances.
