Two Midpeninsula hillside towns have no contested council races this fall. Here is who is running in Woodside and Portola Valley.
Woodside District 2: Lyle Weaver
Weaver has lived in Woodside for 24 years and spent four years on the Planning Commission, two of them as chair, according to The Almanac. He has also served on the town's TCAP committee and works as a medical-device engineer. He says infrastructure needs attention and points to the Kings Mountain Road bridge, which he says was flagged for repairs 15 years ago.
Woodside District 3: Dan Druker
Druker lives in Woodside Heights and is the father of five, The Almanac reported. He has served on the town's Circulation Committee and on TCAP. A key issue facing the town is the state requirement that Woodside plan for 328 new housing units by 2031.
Woodside's write-in filing period ran from Sept. 7 to Oct. 20, according to the town.
Portola Valley: three incumbents, no challengers
Mayor Craig Taylor and council members Mary Hufty and Judith Hasko are running unopposed, The Almanac reported. Portola Valley is still holding its election because Measure N, which would make Portola Valley a charter town and add a real property transfer tax, is on the ballot. Read our Measure N explainer.
How to vote
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls and vote centers close at 8 p.m., and mailed ballots must be postmarked by Election Day and arrive within seven days. You can check your registration and ballot status at sos.ca.gov/elections. California lets you register and vote the same day at a vote center.
