Jack Antonoff says he is still performing the Bleachers songs he wrote about Margaret Qualley, including "Dirty Wedding Dress" and "You and Forever," after the couple separated this summer.

Why it matters: The split came weeks after Bleachers released an album full of songs about the marriage. In a Guardian interview published Sunday, Antonoff explained why he kept them.

What he said

  • "The deal I've made with my audience is that I'm going to tell you honestly how I feel and I'm going to risk at any moment having to stand behind it."
  • "Anyone could relate to the terrible sadness and pain, but there's a great power to it also. It's actually been really beautiful."
  • "I would rather live through something publicly than even escape it privately."

Background

  • Antonoff, 42, and Qualley, 32, married in August 2023 in New Jersey with Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen among the guests, per The Independent.
  • The new Bleachers album is "Everyone for Ten Minutes." A UK and Ireland tour runs Nov. 23 to Dec. 4.
