Diane von Furstenberg received the Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion on Thursday at the Museum at FIT's annual luncheon at Gotham Hall in New York.
Why it matters: The award, which raises money for the museum, follows past winners Olivier Rousteing (2025) and Simon Porte Jacquemus (2024). Von Furstenberg founded her brand in 1972 and introduced the wrap dress in 1974.
The scene
Vanessa Friedman of The New York Times presented the award. Anne Baker and Alida Boer co-chaired the luncheon.
Guests included Martha Stewart, Narciso Rodriguez and Nicole Miller, Elle reports.
Table runners were made from a 1983 DVF ikat print.
"Somehow, I belong in fashion!" von Furstenberg said.
