Apple briefly became the world's most valuable company again on Friday, passing Nvidia as its stock set a record on the day the iPhone Duo hit stores.
Why it matters: The two Silicon Valley giants are each worth about $5.1 trillion, and the No. 1 spot keeps changing hands. Their gap was under 1% at Thursday's close, Yahoo Finance reported.
The numbers
Apple traded above $351 a share, a new intraday record, for a market value of about $5.12 trillion, 9to5Mac reported. Nvidia later moved back into the lead, according to Yahoo Finance.
It was the fifth time Apple has taken the crown back from Nvidia.
Moving in opposite directions
Yahoo Finance said Apple is the only megacap stock up since Oct. 6, gaining 4%, while Nvidia sat about 11% below its Oct. 6 record close after this month's chip selloff.
Next up: Microsoft and Alphabet, each worth about $3.9 trillion, report earnings Wednesday.
